Leeann and Andrew first got in touch with me in 2024. Desperate to get married in the most special place to them, Oban. The couple got engaged in Oban so it is a place close to their heart. I got to work on their plan and set the date for their day to be the 17th of June 2025. I supported the couple to secure a place that they loved for their day - McCaig's Tower in Oban. In Scotland, we are in the fortunate position to be able to get married anywhere as long as you gain the permission of the land owner and that the celebrant/minister is happy to marry you in the spot you have chosen. The local council helped with securing Leeann and Andrew's date at McCaig's Tower and got the go ahead to have their ceremony at the tower.
The couple began their day separate, some traditions are still important to couples and its lovely to see that each and every couple is different and that the little traditions like getting ready separately, wearing something blue etc. are still going strong! Equally, I love to see that other couples help one another to get ready on their day, its entirely up to the individuals and I always say do whatever feels right for your day.
Leeann had a lovely local hair and make up artist to help with getting ready on her day. Leeann had two bridesmaids who helped her get ready and made sure she had everything she needed for her big day. Leeann travelled with her Dad to their ceremony spot and he walked her up to where the couple would tie the knot. Leeann was piped in by Glencoe Bagpiper and Humanist Celebrant Alyson Stewart was waiting to meet the couple to begin their ceremony in the surroundings of McCaig's Tower.
A beautifully personal ceremony with references to what the couple liked about one another, how they met and their story. A humanist wedding is highly personal and is centred on the couple and nothing else. Unlike a religious ceremony which some couples opt for if they wish to make reference to their religion which is equally important to some couples and I support this entirely.
Leeann and Andrew tied the knot literally! they had a hands fasting ceremony and then exchanged rings. The couple made it all legal by signing the marriage schedule followed by lots of cuddles from family and bridesmaids. We then had a walk around the tower and I captured lots of lovely moments of the couple together which you can see below.
Thank you Leeann and Andrew for a lovely experience at McCaig's Towers and for being amazing to work with!
