Opting for an elopement at a quirky Airbnb in Lochearnhead, James & Alicia booked the Scottish Elopement Service for their day to take away the stress of finding suppliers, connecting the dots when it came to paperwork and tying it all together to enable them to have a smooth sailing day. The couple who are based in the UK felt an elopement was a perfect way for them to tie the knot their way and to be able to have a small humanist ceremony looking out towards a beautiful Scottish loch.
Their day began with Alicia's hair and make up artist arriving who put Alicia at ease straight away. The hair and make up artist brings all the kit needed to beautify the client enabling the client to sit back and relax and enjoy the experience of being pampered. Kick back, put on your favourite playlist and have a glass of your choice of bubbles in your hand whilst you take it all in. Meanwhile, James went to begin piecing together his suit and getting ready for the day ahead.
I then arrived just as Alicia's hair and make up artist was finalising the finishing touches to hair and make up. I was able to capture the moments of Alicia having small details touched up such as lipstick, a spray of hair spray and a quick look in the mirror to ensure the bride was happy with her look. I began capturing little details such as James looking out the window towards the spot the pair were about to walk towards to say their vows.
The couple opted for a second shooter and super 8 film to be captured also. The second shooter arrived and we began working together to capture the best out of James and Alicia's day. Alicia led us to her dress which was hanging in a spot away from James' view. We snapped a few photos of the dress before Alicia began putting it on. We then captured some beautiful before photos of Alicia looking out towards the loch with the sun shining and water sparkling.
James and Alicia were finally ready to say "I Do!". They had a very personal humanist ceremony shaped with their own story of how they met, their life together and their hopes for the future. Looking out towards the view with the sun shining, it just felt like the perfect autumnal day for them. We then went to the loch side and finalised their ceremony with their celebrant conducting an oathing stone symbolic ritual which many couples choose if they marry near a loch as this was thought to be the best way to express a solemn promise in physical form in Celtic tribal traditions.
Finally, we set off for more scenic spots around Lochearnhead including the Glen Ogle viaduct, a nearby forest then a beautiful waterfall spot perfect for some candid photos of the pair.
We truly enjoyed planning and capturing James & Alicia's elopement and wish them the best of luck for the future!
